This privacy policy for Show Me Television, LLC ("Company," "we," "us," or "our") describes how and why we might collect, store, use and share ("process") your information when you visit nothingtoreport.org, the website of our Nothing to Report brand (the "Website"), or contact us about it. Our channels on other platforms, and our partners' websites and apps, have their own policies. If you have questions or concerns, contact us at contact@showmetelevision.com.
Summary of key points
The Website uses no cookies, no analytics, no advertising pixels, no third-party embeds and no forms, and it stores nothing in your browser. We do not sell or share personal information.
- What personal information do we process? Only what our host needs to deliver pages (such as your IP address), and whatever you send us if you email us.
- Do we process sensitive personal information? No.
- Do we receive information about you from third parties? No.
- How do we use it? To deliver and secure the Website, to answer you, and to comply with law.
- Who do we share it with? Only the service providers that run the Website and our email, as described below.
- What are your rights? Depending on where you live, you can ask to access, correct or delete your information, among others. Email contact@showmetelevision.com.
1. What information do we collect?
In short: almost nothing. Technical request data is processed by our hosting provider, and you decide what to send us by email.
Information you give us
If you email us (for example about partnerships, licensing, press, a correction or a privacy request) we receive your name, email address and whatever else you choose to include. There are no forms, sign-ups or accounts on the Website.
Information collected automatically
- Hosting. The Website is a static site hosted by Vercel. Like any web host, Vercel processes technical request data (your IP address, browser and device type, the page requested, the referring page and the time of the request) to deliver pages, keep the service secure and prevent abuse. See Vercel's privacy notice.
- Everything is first-party. Fonts, images, the short muted Show Me Television intro that plays on our homepage, styles and the small script that runs the menu are all served from our own domain. Nothing is requested from a third party until you follow a link.
- No tracking. We do not use cookies, local storage, analytics, advertising identifiers, session recording or fingerprinting, and we do not build profiles of visitors.
Links to other sites
Links to our partners (including showmetelevision.com), the App Store and Google Play take you to services with their own privacy practices. Links to partner sites carry campaign tags (for example utm_source=nothingtoreport.org) so the partner can see the visit came from here. Those tags describe this site, not you.
2. How do we process your information?
We process personal information to:
- deliver the Website and keep it secure, including detecting and preventing abuse;
- reply to your email and keep a record of the correspondence;
- handle corrections, takedown and copyright notices, and privacy requests;
- comply with legal obligations and establish, exercise or defend legal claims.
We do not use your information for advertising, and we do not send marketing email unless you ask us to.
3. What legal bases do we rely on?
If you are in the EU, the EEA or the UK, the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and UK GDPR require us to explain the legal bases we rely on:
- Legitimate interests: to deliver and secure the Website, and to answer correspondence you send us.
- Performance of a contract: where you write to us about a licensing or partnership agreement.
- Legal obligations: to respond to lawful requests, keep required records, and exercise or defend legal claims.
- Consent: where you ask us to contact you about something specific. You can withdraw consent at any time.
If you are in Canada, we process your information with your express or implied consent (for example, by replying to an email you sent us), or without consent where the law permits.
4. When and with whom do we share personal information?
In short: only with the providers that run the Website and our email, and only to do that job.
- Service providers: Vercel (hosting) and our email provider. They process information on our behalf or under their own policies linked above.
- Our affiliates and partners: if you write to us about a partnership that involves API Automations or Civic Forecast, we may share your message with them to answer it. We will tell you if we do.
- Business transfers: in connection with a merger, sale of company assets, financing or acquisition of all or part of our business.
- Legal requirements: where we are required to by law, or to protect the rights, property or safety of our users, the public or us.
We do not sell personal information, we do not share it for cross-context behavioral advertising, and we have not done either in the preceding twelve (12) months.
5. How long do we keep your information?
We keep personal information only as long as necessary for the purposes in this policy, unless a longer period is required or permitted by law. Correspondence is kept as long as needed to deal with it and any follow-up. Hosting request logs are kept by our providers for short, fixed periods under their own policies. When we no longer have a legitimate need, we delete or anonymize the information, or, where that is not possible (for example, in backups), we store it securely and isolate it until deletion is possible.
6. How do we keep your information safe?
The Website is served only over HTTPS, with a strict content security policy and no third-party scripts. We use organizational and technical measures appropriate to what we hold. No transmission over the internet or storage technology is guaranteed to be 100% secure, so we cannot promise that unauthorized third parties will never defeat our safeguards.
7. What are your privacy rights?
Depending on where you live (for example the EEA, the UK, Canada or a U.S. state with a privacy law), you may have the right to:
- access, and receive a copy of, the personal information we hold about you;
- ask us to correct or delete it;
- restrict or object to our processing of it;
- data portability;
- withdraw consent, where we rely on consent, without affecting processing before withdrawal.
To make a request, email contact@showmetelevision.com. We may need to verify your identity before acting. We will respond in accordance with applicable law, and we will not discriminate against you for exercising your rights. You may use an authorized agent where the law allows.
If you are in the EEA or UK and believe we are processing your information unlawfully, you also have the right to complain to your local data protection supervisory authority.
8. Controls for Do-Not-Track and the Global Privacy Control
We honor the Global Privacy Control (GPC) and similar universal opt-out signals. Because the Website does not sell or share personal information, run targeted advertising or track you across sites, there is currently nothing for a GPC or Do-Not-Track signal to switch off. If that ever changes, we will apply those signals automatically and update this policy first.
9. Do California residents have specific privacy rights?
Yes. Under the California Consumer Privacy Act as amended by the California Privacy Rights Act (CCPA/CPRA), California residents may request to know what personal information we have collected about them, its sources and purposes, and who we have disclosed it to; to correct or delete it; and to opt out of its sale or sharing. California Civil Code § 1798.83 ("Shine the Light") also lets California residents request, once a year, information about disclosures for direct-marketing purposes; we make none.
In the past twelve (12) months, we have collected the following categories of personal information:
| Category | Examples | Collected |
|---|---|---|
| A. Identifiers | IP address (in hosting logs); name and email address, if you email us | Yes |
| B. California Customer Records categories | Name, contact, education, employment or financial information | Only name and contact details you email us |
| C. Protected classification characteristics | Gender, date of birth | No |
| D. Commercial information | Transaction and purchase history | No |
| E. Biometric information | Fingerprints, voiceprints | No |
| F. Internet or other network activity | Pages requested, timestamps, browser type (in hosting logs) | Yes |
| G. Geolocation data | Precise device location | No |
| H. Audio, electronic, visual or similar | Images, audio or call recordings | No |
| I. Professional or employment-related | Job title, work history | Only if you include it in an email |
| J. Education information | Student records | No |
| K. Inferences | Profiles of preferences or characteristics | No |
| L. Sensitive personal information | Government IDs, account log-ins, precise location | No |
We have not sold or shared personal information, and we do not knowingly sell or share the personal information of consumers under 16. California residents under 18 may ask us to remove content or information they have posted to the Service; the Website accepts no user posts, but you can email us about any correspondence.
10. Other U.S. state privacy rights
Residents of states with comprehensive privacy laws (including Colorado, Connecticut, Utah and Virginia, among others) have rights similar to those above: to confirm whether we process their personal information, to access, correct and delete it, to obtain a portable copy, and to opt out of its sale, targeted advertising and certain profiling. We do none of the latter. To exercise any of these rights, email contact@showmetelevision.com. If we decline a request, you may appeal by replying to our decision with "Appeal" in the subject line; we will respond to your appeal within the time the law requires.
11. Children
The Website is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them. If you believe a child has sent us personal information, email us and we will delete it.
12. International transfers
Show Me Television is based in the United States, and our service providers operate globally. If you contact us from outside the United States, your information will be processed in the United States and wherever our providers operate. Where the law requires it, we rely on appropriate safeguards, such as standard contractual clauses, for those transfers.
13. Do we make updates to this policy?
Yes, as necessary to stay accurate and compliant. The updated version is indicated by the "last updated" date at the top of this page and is effective as soon as it is published. If the Website ever adds analytics, forms or anything else that changes what this policy says, we will update this page before the change goes live.
